War Memorial Archive

Useful Links

Much of the information included on this site was sourced from the Johnian magazine and the School Register published in 1937. We are indebted to Neil Pudney who researched and compiled the original detailed database of those OJs and members of staff who lost their lives in the Great War. Military records such as Medal Index Cards and Service Records, along with battalion, brigade and divisional War Diaries have been invaluable as well as other documents held by National Archives. Census Returns, Probate records, back issues of the London Gazette, regimental and battalion histories and modern battlefield guides and campaign histories have also been consulted.

Many other individuals and family members have also sent us information and photographs for our archive, and we gratefully acknowledge their valuable contribution.
